Ethiopia's New Aviation Hub: Bishoftu International Airport by Zaha Hadid Architects
Zaha Hadid Architects is spearheading the construction of Bishoftu International Airport in Ethiopia, a project envisioned as Africa's largest aviation infrastructure. Located 40 kilometers from Addis Ababa, this modular airport aims to become a global hub, featuring a 660,000-square-meter terminal, two runways, and an initial annual capacity of 60 million passengers, expandable to 110 million. Designed for efficiency and sustainability, it incorporates natural ventilation, solar shading, and a unique central spine inspired by the Great Rift Valley.
